Climb Athens is a member serving non-profit (501c7).  Our mission is to 

     Foster climbing community 
     Improve access and quality of climbing resources
     Encourage healthy lifestyle in the Athens County area 

Currently, our major projects are to provide direction and volunteer labor for the sustainable development of climbing and bouldering resources in the SE Ohio area.  The organization is run by member volunteers, and we encourage new people to join as members and help out.    

Climb Athens Members & Supporters Will…

We have a board composed of two co-presidents, treasurer and board members at large.  We are holding an election for at least 5 board positions this summer.  We are also seeking informal organizational representatives from local and regional universities, high schools, climbing clubs, and climbing gyms.  

Board members are elected by Climb Athens membership, please join to help set our goals!  All members are encouraged to contribute to activities and roles as they are able.  Active membership last for one year, starting from the date of payment/completion of the membership form.

Climb Athens Mission:

1. Build a supportive, cooperative learning community for climbers of all levels to develop their skills and character.

2. Establish high quality, accessible, and inspiring climbing facilities in Athens Ohio.

3. Organize events for members to socialize and participate in the activities of bouldering, climbing, training, and recreation related to climbing and bouldering.

4. Encourage healthy, lifelong active lifestyles through bouldering and climbing.

5. Advocate for climbing and a healthy, active lifestyle locally across Athens County, and more broadly across the Appalachian region.

Summer 2018 Climb Athens

Let climbing take you places! 

Members of Climb Athens make friends and go on climbing adventures in Ohio, and areas in surrounding states.   In this photo Yoichi identifies a starting foothold on "Witness the Citrus" 5.11c at Millers Fork at the Red River Gorge, KY.

The non-profit climbing club is organized to build community, friendships and resources for climbing in Athens County.  Currently our main indoor resource is Beta Fish, a garage min-gym featuring a 20 degree wall and a 40 degree Moonboard. 

1.  Check our Facebook page for hours and location of Beta Fish (normal hours are 7-10 pm on Tuesday and Thursday).  
2. Print and fill out our waiver, and bring it with you to your first visit. 
3. Become a member of Climb Athens. (see details on our FB page) 
4.  Get involved in climbing organizations!   Join the Ohio Climbers Coalition, Access Fund, and American Alpine Club. 
5. Learn about the Moonboard, and add the app to your phone.  We have the current set up, using the Black, White, Yellow, and Red hold sets.  

Winter Membership Drive

Climb Athens Winter Membership Drive:  

We have pro-rated the access pass for the remaining 6 months of our inaugural season.  The pass will run through the end of May, 2017.  We are hoping to increase our membership by about 10 new members, up to about 35 total for winter/spring.  Please post your questions in the related discussions on the Climb Athens FB page or on the Athens Bouldering FB group.
